suggestions wanted March 25, 2008

received an invitation from weggy and nor for an open mic session next month. no, im not qualified to be on the mic, but rather, will try to play my dust-infested guitar (it has been that long) and accompany my friends who can sing.

now, i have quite a to-do list here. my cheapo fina guitar (bought 2 years back from a friend at a bargain price of RM180) will need new strings, a guitar bag, guitar stand, and fret cleaner. i might have to borrow my bro’s amp and cable if i want to make a ‘presence’..haha. good thing the guitar’s a semi-acoustic.

and so, my good friends, now i need suggestions on the songs to play that day. basically we might try to do a early 90s theme (a homage to our schoolgoing years) so please list your song suggestions in the comments section. try to suggest a song that’s easy for me to play (it has been that long, remember?)

and for my schoolfriends who want to join us that day (marey marey).. it’s on the 27th April 2008 at +wondermilk cafe, uptown damansara. come to think about it, im not sure of the time.. nanti kena tanya miss weggy.

eventhough i’m only in my 3rd month with mmp, da boss requested me to assist him checking last year’s accounts figures to put in this year’s business plan.

penat siot nak tgk setiap satu page dalam satu tahun punya accounts statement huwarghhhhhh!!!

consequences nye termasuk laa terjumpa sehelai dua uban kat kepala malam tadi.

i’m just going to put it down as stress-related. or maybe coz i played 6 bowling games back-to-back in one night. (lengan kanan aku dah muskul. hehe.)

speaking of hair, anybody got any tips how to control rambut gugur?

i watch the flags and posters and whatnots increasing in numbers each day i go to work and come back home. lama2 camni aku tak nampak jalan laa jawabnya.

am i voting this year? i might. although i can say as of now i still don’t know if i’m pretty sure my vote will go to the right person. since i don’t live nor work in the particular constituency now.. i haven’t got the chance to see the candidates campaigning, although i’m pretty sure the incumbent did quite a good job previously. but i must say, the ‘changes’ side has made an impressive campaign program online. i don’t see a lot of that from the ‘maintains’ people. wake up laa all you datuks datins! it’s the information age! takkan nak harap kempen kat padang je.

election news aside, my department’s inaugural bowling tournament will kick off tonight… don’t play play! hehe.

i’m sure as hell not gonna win the trophy tonight, hence my team name (check below)

how do u guys read your books?

do u skim and finish the whole thing in a day? or read them thoroughly, one page at a time? or do u skip some chapters and concentrate on some others?

i just noticed that i tend to concentrate so much when reading that i forget i have a two-year-old.. hehehehe. i started reading this jeffrey archer novel since kelmarin, and successfully finished it within 2 days. tapi i think there are a few key elements that i missed, sebab ada bits here n there that i didn’t get. since i know i won’t be able to sleep easy until i figure the darned story out, i have to go back and catch up on the sub-plots that link the whole thing together and ignore zana again at least until dinnertime.

sigh.. if only i was this dedicated during my schoolyears.

i hate antibiotics February 15, 2008

they taste yucky. they smell yucky. and they don’t usually help me get better. i’m already on my 2nd day of cephalexin but my cough doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.  kung kang kung kang aku sampai tido. and i still wonder when did i catch it in the first place.

i was supposed to head down to nilai for this uni’s convention on islamic entrepreneurship. naah, not joining the seminar, just to sell our magazines at the expo site. tapi my boss said no need, they are not expecting that many visitors today since it’s a weekday.. and i’m wearing the company shirt, siap dengan sarung lengan lagi wakakak! very the muslimah gittew.

had lunch at dataran maybank with huda, zezz and nailah. sempat gak terserempak dgn anep kat lobby bleh lak ‘terserempak’ dgn laki sendiri ek.

zezz got us talking about thyroids during lunch. the symptoms, what it does to you, etc etc. now that i’m back in the office, i surfed around and found this:

i’m beginning to run out of ideas for titles.

huda lost her mum last weekend, al-fatihah.. and semoga roh arwah dicucuri rahmatNya. the last time i met arwah was probably raya.. several years ago. most of us already know about arwah’s repeated struggles with diabetes. hence a note to remind us to always take care of ourselves.

nowadays there will always be somebody you know or knew with somewhat poor state of health. just looking at my father, who scared us (and the doctor!) a few years back when his checkup results stated absurdly high levels of cholesterol.. part of the blame went to us pun.. everytime one of the family was out for makan2.. we made sure we called home and asked if anybody wants anything for tapau. papa never said no,  be it nasi goreng or mekdi’s burgers! alhamdulillah, after suffering a gout episode and some minor ailments.. papa now eats in moderation, together with his chlorella(yup the green “pil tinggi” as named by my schoolmates hahaha) and now, virgin coconut oil! wakakakka dah mcm promo barang lak.

product plugs aside, i’m starting to see the dark tunnel that usually shows up after 1-2 months of starting a new job.. so sickening! hahahaha!

got a text message from mum just now. she said one of my uncles has been visiting my blog now. EGAD!! hehehe. anyway, a big wave to Uncle Jam!

not feeling well today.  i joined the boys for booth setup at KL Conv Centre yesterday, then we headed to Lotus for a quick meal, unfortunately we were all caught in the rain. so now i have this really itchy throat i’m dying to scratch like the guy in the tv ad.

speaking of itchy throats, i mentioned that particular bit to a friend and he suggested i take PIRITON and just sleep the day off. schoolmates, wasn’t that the particular icky green stuff kak julia gave us each time one of us complained of cough? or did i get the name wrong? whatever the name was, it definitely knocked me out the whole day that time. kalau ada chicken rice for lunch pun mmg miss punya. what a blessing for those who are admitted to the sickbay on wednesdays. u get to eat the special chicken rice lunch pakai tangan, no cutleries! haha.

sickbay leads me to another term i used to hear the seniors say:
“you all ni sickening lah!”

RIP January 29, 2008

only knew about it today, eventhough it was from last friday. RIP Ms. Choy, my English Teacher in f5 (and part of f4). i will definitely remember the times you keep saying “i donch know” and how you made sure you looked for each and everyone of us who hid in the other classrooms and the library and all sorts of hiding places everytime english period starts. i still have your english workbook.. somewhere.

*ms choy passed away on friday 24 january 2008 after just 5 days’ struggle with pneumonia
